Scottish amateur golf's man of the moment Stuart Wilson is Angus Ambassador of the Year 2003.
Victory in this year's Scottish Champion of Champions at Leven, success in the acclaimed Lytham Trophy and the only Scot in the Great Britain and Ireland team that kept the Walker Cup home this year for an historic third consecutive match against America.
These are the highlights of a golfing career that started when Stuart Wilson was only six years old and spent his £1 pocket money to play two rounds with his father Neil and big brother Ewen at Cullen Bay Golf Course on a summer holiday.
Since then he has played all over the world representing his country but is always proud to remind people that he comes from Forfar. And although he now lives in England with his wife Lesley, his goal is to return to live and work in Angus.
The winners of the 2003 Angus Ambassador Awards were announced at a star studded award ceremony (Friday 28 November) presided over by guest presenter Dougie Donnelly.
Over 200 stars of the Angus' business, arts and tourism sectors joined the county's artists, community representatives and aspiring youth talent at the Carnoustie Golf Course Hotel to recognise those whose talents and accomplishments make them excellent ambassadors for the county.
Presented by the Angus Ahead campaign the awards give recognition to the stars of our communities, our local companies, our young people and those promoting Angus as a tourism destination.
"Angus Ahead is all about promoting the talents and attractions of this wonderful county of ours - we want people to sit up and take notice. Wherever we direct our energies, whether geographically or developmentally, we need to show a confidence in our potential and a belief in our abilities," said Provost Bill Middleton, chair of the Angus Ahead Champions.
"If we have confidence in the county, if we take pride in our accomplishments then others will follow. That's good for our businesses; its good for our communities and it will help build a more vibrant and prosperous future for Angus."
"These Awards recognise and celebrate those many people and organisations who are doing just that - locally, nationally and internationally. We have great ambitions for Angus and our ambassadors are helping us achieve them and embrace new challenges for the county," he continued.
The 2003 winners are:
This is the fifth year of these prestigious Angus awards. Renamed the Angus Ambassador Awards last year to better reflect the excellent ambassadorial role each of the finalists fulfils, the awards showcase the stunning diversity of accomplishment found in the county.
Each year although the main award categories remain the same - business, community, art, tourism and youth - they are slanted towards differing priorities within Angus work, cultural and leisure life. This ensures that the Ambassador Awards continue to attract nominees across the broadest range of sectors and activities.
The winners in all seven categories received the highly coveted Angus Ambassadors Award, with the Community and Youth categories also carrying cash awards.
