A nice pub in an architecturally pleasing corner building. Many of the buildings in Forfar have rounded edges, and The Vine & Monkey is in a fine old curvy one. Inside, it is typically pub-like, with a tiny counter and a great emphasis on food.
They have the Inveralmond's 'Loons Ale', which is made exclusively for two of Forfar's pubs and named after Forfar Athletic Football Club, whose nickname is 'The Loons'. In fact, to help prop up the local football team, a certain proportion of the price of a pint of 'Loons Ale' is donated to them. Well done to The Vine & Monkey.
