Weekend Jazz Impressions in Print Masterclass with Dominic Snyder

A printmaking Masterclass using Hospitalfield's Kinpurnie Print Studio with the opportunity to explore translating drawings made from live jazz musical performance into print.

This is an exciting area that offers the possibility for loose and interpretive responses, as well as perhaps figurative. Processes will be explored and explained at the beginning of the course in preparation for sketching primary source material during the Saturday evening performance and developing studies on the Sunday.

Material will be generated through the drawing of live musicians at Hospitalfield, where a lively programme of celebrated Jazz music already takes place thanks to Alan Steadman's celebrated Jazz@Hospitalfield programme.

This material will then be considered for printing possibilities, with discussions and exemplars to help guide this process. Participants will be using the Kinpurnie Print studio press, recently serviced by Rochat.

In an effort to capture the free spirit of the music participants can expect the development of swift and exciting possibilities realised through Mono Printing, Dry Point and Chine-collé.
