Weekend Landscape Design Masterclass with Frank Youil

Whether you are starting a garden from scratch or developing an existing site, this masterclass will cater to your individual needs. Learn about landscape design, experience personal tuition and enjoy a weekend's retreat in the historical, inspirational house and grounds of North East Scotland's Hospitalfield, Arbroath. The aim of the course activities are to give you the garden owner the confidence to create and design your own garden.

A combination of illustrated talks and discussions with visits to inspiring private gardens will encourage participants to express their own personal creative ideas through practical planning sessions. At the end of the design process, participants will find themselves full of practical ideas and confident to either approach a landscaper with their requirements or begin to tackle the project themselves.

Topics include 'Defining your needs', 'Structure, Scale and Space', 'Shape and Form', Colour, Texture and Movement' and 'Features of the Garden'. Time tabled garden visits are included, as are informal one to one tutorials, encouraging group discussions and an opportunity to take advantage of a variety of reference books and film material.

Once registered participants will receive an information pack on how to record the main features of their garden plot, ready to tackle problem solving sessions in the Patrick Allan-Fraser studios with Frank's expertise.
