Auchterhouse Hill

A hill of Sidlaw Hills in S Angus, Auchterhouse Hill rises to 426m (1397 feet) to the north of Kirkton of Auchterhouse. It is topped by an ancient hill fort and quarrying was a more recent activity. The former Sidlaw Sanatorium lies on its southern slopes, now converted into private flats. The highest point in the Sidlaws, Craigowl Hill (455 m / 1492 feet), lies 1¼ (2 km) to the east.
