Northeast of Dykhead
Located just to the north-east of Dykehead, at the head of Glen Clova, Burnside Cottage was once the home of Dr. Edward Wilson, who died with Captain Robert Falcon Scott in the Antarctic in 1912.
Scott visited the house and the expedition was partly planned here.
The cottage belonged to Wilson's publisher, Reginald Smith, who was based in London.
It is thought that the author and playwright Sir J.M. Barrie (1860 - 1937) visited Wilson and Scott here.
A cairn commemorating both Wilson and Scott lies a half-mile (1 km) to the west.
