· I'm interested in sailing but don't have a dinghy.
No problem. The club has 2 Laser dinghies and a GP14 available for people just like you who want to try sailing before committing to buying a boat. We also have an optimist sailing dinghy which is ideal for children. Why not come along to our Open Day?
· I've been along to the clubhouse once or twice, but it's always been locked up.
The full sailing programme for this year is included in this starter pack. It details when sailing will be taking place. Normally club members start to rig up their boats about an hour before the times given in the start column. Come along and introduce yourself. Further to this there is notice board with time of racing posted outside.
· I'd like to try sailing but am not interested in racing.
No problem. Several of our members just come along to potter. Members sail anything from catamarans to sailing canoes and even rowing boats (That is if you can sail a rowing boat). Everyone's welcome.
· I'd like to learn to sail.
The club is organising some sessions where beginners can sail with more experienced sailors and learn the basics. Look out for our training days this year - designed especially for new members.
· I've sailed before and have a dinghy. Can I keep it at the club?
Yes contact one of the committee members for details.
· Is there a social side to the club?
Yes. Various events are organised throughout the year and include a pre-season get together, summer barbecue and end of season trophy night.
· How much does it cost?
This year the individual membership fee is only £35. You would however, at some point, have to invest in a lifejacket. (We do have several children's lifejackets available for borrowing).
· How do I join?
Complete the enclosed application for membership and bring it along to the club or forward it to the treasurer.
· What Safety Facilities does the club provided?
As the water we sail on is tidal. Every scheduled club sailing day our dedicated rescue boat is out on the water. This is manned using a rota system of club members and will always endeavour to stay close novice and lesser experienced sailors to provide advice and or assistance. We also insist that you have a life jacket on when on the water.
