Cricket Club To Use Former Temporary Housing Units

Issued: 26 November 2008

Strathmore Cricket Club in Forfar is the latest of several local organisations in Angus set to benefit from the use of former temporary housing units owned by Angus Council.

The units, known as Park Homes, will be moved from their present locations in Montrose and Brechin for the benefit of a number of groups, the council's neighbourhood services committee agreed.

The cricket club will be loaned two units on a temporary basis. Other groups to have benefited from the offer are Letham Drama Group, Parkview Bowling Club, Brechin and the Montrose Air Station Charitable Trust in support of their museum and three units to Strathmore rugby club for changing accommodation.

The units will still remain in council ownership, but the groups acquiring them will be responsible for transporting them to the new sites and for any maintenance in the future.

The remaining Park Homes are to be advertised for sale by tender, as previously agreed by the committee.
