From Belly Dancing to Yoga

Issued: 19 November 2008

Over the next two weeks residents of Brechin will all receive the long awaited programme of courses which will be taking place in the new Brechin Learning Centre which is due to open after the festive period.

This exciting development, which has been made possible by the strong partnership which exists between Angus Council and Angus College, will create a learning hub in the middle of the city which will provide learning opportunities in a range of subjects for people of all ages.

The development, which is linked to Brechin High School, will host a state-of-the-art wireless computer suite which will give people access to increasing their skills in Microsoft packages, the Internet and many other aspects of digital technology. From the feedback we have received from the community, many of these programmes are scheduled to run during the day as that seems to be the most popular option amongst residents.

In addition, there are two large multi-purpose rooms which will facilitate a range of programmes including Belly Dancing, Yoga, Art, Psychology, First Aid, Spanish, Beauty Therapy and special children's classes.

As well as the many short programmes, the Centre will have its first full-time programme on offer – NC Early Education & Childcare. This course, which runs mornings only, is ideal for those who may want to return to education or who those who may have recently left school and want to continue their studies locally.

For those looking to gain a qualification in Art and Design there is a part-time introductory programme available which will focus on supporting people who wish to build up a portfolio as well as give those with a general interest in Art the chance to learn new skills and techniques in a range of artistic areas.

There is a chance that funding support may be availabledepending on individual circumstances for many of these programmes and anyone who wants to get their booking in early can do so by calling Karen on 01241 432724.
