Library Service For Housebound People In Kirriemuir

Issued: 20 November 2008

Plans are underway to provide a special library service in Kirriemuir for people who are housebound.

Under the new scheme, staff will take a selection of library books and stories on CD to the homes of housebound people in the town on a regular basis.

The aim is to launch the service, which would probably run monthly on a Friday, in the New Year.

Volunteer staff will visit anyone interested initially to draw up a list of their reading interests and library staff will use this information to deliver suitable material on a monthly van run. People will also be able to request particular books.

Anyone interested in further information, or putting their name forward for the housebound library scheme in Kirrie, should contact any staff member at Kirriemuir Library on 01575 572357 during library hours, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10am to 5pm, Tuesday and Friday 10am to 7pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
