Montrose Swimming Pool Project Moves Forward

Issued: 26 November 2008

A project board has been set up to take forward the planning for Montrose Swimming Pool, expected to open to the public in October 2012.

The new pool is set to replace the existing Montrose Swimming Pool at Montrose Academy.

Design drawings will be prepared during the next few months, and the design brief is on the Angus Council website. The public will have the opportunity to comment on the design by accessing the 'Have your Say' section of the council website.

Montrose, Ferryden and Hillside Community Councils, Montrose and Area Partnership, Montrose Seals and other user groups will be consulted with directly over the design for the pool. An open public meeting will also held to hear the views of the general public.

The final phase of the public consultation exercise will take place between April and May 2009.

Convener of neighbourhood services, Jim Millar said: "We will soon enter the next phase of the Montrose Swimming Pool project when interested groups and the general public will have the opportunity to view the design drawings and to comment on the proposals. I hope that everyone with an interest in this major project will contribute to the public consultations."
