Scottish National Art Competition - Winners

Four and a half thousand pounds of prize money will be handed over this Saturday to the winners of this year's Scottish National Art Competition, organised by Angus College.

A team of judges, led by top art critic, Richard Demarco have had a tough job choosing from over 200 entrants from across Scotland. Mr Demarco will be presenting a limited edition copy of his work to one of the artists on the day.

College Spokesman, Kevin Murphy says "we're delighted with the quality of this year's entries. There have been some wonderfully imaginative and creative works and the standard has been very high."

The competition has been supported by Angus Rural Enterprise Grant Scheme and grants from local trusts. The competition includes three prizes; two thousand five hundred pounds for the top professional artist, one thousand pounds for the best non-professional artist and one thousand pounds for the best student.

The winners and those Highly Commended will be on display at Kinblethmont Gallery outside Arbroath from the 9th to the 29th of November from 11 am to 5 pm.

1. Professional:Frances Law from Dundee for "Broken Shell"

2. Student:Margaret Livingstone from Edzell"If I was Mother Nature.."

3. Non-Professional:Liz Dulleyfrom Invergowrie"Turkish Delight"
