Employers in Scotland to Receive £2K for Recruiting Redundant Apprentices

Issued: 19 June 2009

Employers will be paid £2,000 to recruit a redundant apprentice under a new Scottish Government scheme.

Up to £1.7 million European Social Fund cash has been made available for "Adopt an Apprentice", the first project to be supported through the Government's skills development programme ScotAction.

It is hoped the initiative will help get 575 redundant apprentices back into work. The Scottish Government had already pledged £16 million funding this year to create up to 7,800 new apprenticeships.
