(b. - d.1621) Architect. Mylne worked in Dundee (1580 - 1600), where he was responsible for the Mercat Cross. He moved to Perth where he built a new bridge over the River Tay (1616), formed of a line of long, low arches, regarded as his finest work, although it was washed away in a storm in 1621, shortly after Mylnes' death. He was Master Mason to King James VI (1566 - 1625) and began a dynasty of architects, masons and engineers which continued into the middle of the 19th C. His domestic architecture includes Bannatyne House in Angus (1590). Mylne is buried in Greyfriars, Perth.
