Marion Angus

(b.1866 - d.1946) Minor poet. Born in Aberdeen, a daughter of the manse, Angus was brought up in Arbroath, where her father was Minister of the United Presbyterian Church. Much of her adult life was spent in Aberdeen, although her work was mainly written in the variety Scots found in the County of Angus. Her best known work is her lament for Mary, Queen of Scots, entitled Alas, Poor Queen and her Selected Poems were published in 1950. She died in Arbroath.
