Patrick Lyon

(b.1575 - d.1615) Privy Councillor and noble. Lyon succeeded his father to the title of Lord Glamis in 1577. In 1595, he married Anne Murray, an ancestor of the Dukes of Atholl, who became the mistress of King James VI (1566 - 1625). Lyon was created Earl of Kinghorne by King James VI in 1606. He was appointed a Privy Councillor and accompanied his King to London when James succeeded to the English throne. Lyon died in Edinburgh and was buried at Glamis.
