Beyond Glen Clova lies the high and remote - but beautiful - Glen Doll, opening out to the Eastern Cairngorms, and sporting impressive mountains such as the Munros, Mayer and Driesh.

The glens have a superb natural heritage.Glen Doll is a botanist's paradise with some of the rarest mountain plants in Britain.Majestic birds and mammals such as Golden Eagle and Red Deer dominate the mountain tops whilst dippers and salmon bathe in the fresh waters of the River South Esk, with much more in between...

The visitor facilities at Glen Doll are managed by a partnership comprising Angus Council, Cairngorms National Park Authority and Forestry Commission Scotland. Funding for the Ranger Service and the visitor facilities relies heavily on money collected for car parking.

The Countryside Ranger Service is based at the Glen Doll Ranger Base at the head of the Glen Doll car park. (Grid Ref: NO282759).The base has a visitor reception offering informative displays and a wide range of Cairngorms National Park leaflets including walks in Glen Clova and Glen Doll, Glen Esk and Cycling in the Angus Glens.

The Route Card System operates from 9am - 4.30pm during the winter months (October – March) and 9am – 6pm during the summer (April – September). Lone walkers venturing out on to the hills are strongly recommended to use the system for their own safety. The cards are checked daily by the rangers and if necessary the emergency services are contacted should a walker fail to return to the car park two hours after the stated time of return.

Guided walks for visiting groups and schools can be arranged by contacting the Glen Doll Ranger Base. Advanced booking is essential to arrange such visits. A full list of the monthly events taking place within the Angus Glens can be found in the Ranger Service Events Diary which is available at all ranger centres and tourist offices or on our website.

Rangers are available to give illustrated talks, on a variety of topics, to schools, clubs and organisations, during the day or in the evening.Contact staff to discuss your requirements.

A variety of school activities are available through the ranger service including visits to Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve to study physical geography and glaciation.

A variety of woodland trails are available within the Glen Doll forest offering a range of walks for those who do not wish to venture out on to the hills. These walks range from 2 miles to 5 miles in length. The walk from the car park to the Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve gives you a breathtaking view of the corrie gouged out by glaciers thousands of years ago. All footpaths have been upgraded through the East Cairngorms Access Project including a spectacular walk through Corrie Fee to the waterfall and beyond. Picnic facilities are available on the grassed area adjacent to the Glen Doll car park for which there is a daily car parking fee.Please support the ranger service by paying the charges at the car park machine. All income goes directly to providing you with a better service. Public toilets are available at the ranger base.

A hillphones booklet providing information for hillwalkers about deer stalking activities from July to October is available at the ranger base at the appropriate time of year. Within the Balmoral/Lochnagar and Glen Clova area the main stalking dates are from mid August to 20^th October.
