Ballumbie Castle Golf Course

Ballumbie is a new facility ideally placed on the outskirts of Dundee. With a good driving range and comfortable clubhouse, it is a welcome addition to the local golf scene.

Though the course is young, it is settling well with the turf knitting together to form a good golfing base. The terrain sweeps and turns with no two holes the same and it is more accommodating to a considered approach. Most clubs in the bag will be used but not necessarily a driver off every tee, especially for the first six holes where position is more important than distance.

The most difficult stretch starts at the 10th, a par four with a burn running next to the fairway and a sloping bank to the right, as well as a pond to the left of the green. It is followed by a 210-yard, par three, then another par three at only 143 yards over a pond. This though short, catches many players out. The 13th is a testing 535-yard, par five uphill and usually into the wind.
