A nature reserve managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds
(RSPB), the Loch of Kinnordy Nature Reserve extends to 88 ha (218 acres) and is
surrounded by farm-land a half-mile (1 km) to the west of Kirriemuir in Central
Angus. Interpretative displays explain the flora and fauna, which includes
wildfowl and wading birds, together with fishing ospreys, whooper swans and
nationally-important breeding colonies of black-necked grebes and black-headed
gulls. Visitors can observe the birds from hides located around the loch.
