Restenneth Priory

A parish to the north-east of Forfar in Angus, Restenneth is noted for its ruined priory, which was probably a Pictish foundation.

It was probably founded by King David I (c.1080 - 1153).

Its square tower with octagonal spire forms a prominent landmark.

From the 12th century until the Reformation it was an Augustinian priory.
