An early Christian sculpted stone with Pictish symbols, the St Orland's Stone lies in a field 4½ miles (7 km) west of Forfar in Central Angus. Also known as the Cossans Stone, this well-preserved monument has a cross carved on the east face and on the reverse includes illustrations of horse-riders, various beasts and the only known Pictish carving of men rowing a boat. Standing 2.36m (7¾ feet) high, the stone is complete, although pinned with iron bars to secure a break. It is maintained by Historic Scotland.
