Start on Kirriemuir on B955 near Martin park and head north past the top of Kirrie Den towards Northmuir.
Take the first road to the left after Northmuir, which is signposted Pearsie and Lednathie. Around two miles up this road turn onto minor road signposted for Lintrathen and Kingoldrum. carry straight on up this road, ignoring the turn-offs for Kingoldrum and Pearsie until youn come into the steep sided glen beside the river, which leads to Balintore Castle. This grand Victorian house is now derelict but it is still a striking and very attractive building, which dominates the surrounding area.
Follow the road down the glen until it joins the B951 at Lintrathen Loch. This is the main reservoir supplying water to Dundee and was initially built in 1896. Its surrounding woodlands makes it ideal as a bird sanctuary as well as an attractive spectacle, especially in Autumn.
