Edzell to Rocks of Solitude
Moderate;Nature/Country route

GOOD PATH BUT CARE NEEDED DUE TO STEEP DROPS

This straightforward walk starts from the village of Edzell and leads through mature woodland alongside the impressive gorge of the River North Esk.

At Gannochy Bridge a blue door on the east side of the river leads to the continuation of the walk, where the gorge becomes even more spectacular.  This section passes through the grounds of the 18th century Burn  House.  The Burn is an educational charitable trust affiliated to Goodenough College, London and is a study and vacation centre for staff and students froma ll over the world.  When the path meets the road near Rocks of Solitude you can retrace your steps or return to Gannochy Bridge along the road, but it is worth spending some time admiring the rapids in the gorge before you go.
