Foot of the Glens West to East Cycle
Longer Distance

Linking the western and eastern glens is pretty straightforward using minor roads north of the A90.  The suggested route provides a variety of conditions and some very good views over Strathmore.  Start from say The Square in Alyth taking the B954 to Glen Isla then turn off onto the minor road to Airlie.  At the T-junction, turn left to Lintrathen, but at the next junction continue straight on to the Kaims of Airlie till you meet the B951 and follow this to Kirriemuir.

Leave Kirriemuir on the Shielhill Road past the golf club, over Shielhill Bridge, then turn left to Memus, where there is an excellent pub, turn right - through Fern and Menmuir, then turn left at Y-junction at Tigerton, and go up the long and steep hill.  Follow minor road over Dunlappie Bridge to Edzell.  Alternatively, if heading for Brechin first then simply follow the road straight on from Shielhill Bridge through Careston and then to Brechin.  If you have already visited Glen Clova then there is also a minor road from Cortachy to Memus, which cuts out the need to return to Kirriemuir.  All these roads are perfect for cycling, apart from the inevitable hills of course.
