River Esk and Sawmill Walks
Easy;Under 12km;Nature/Country route

These walks, which link together to form a loop, can be started either from the car park beside Cortachy School, where there is a map board, or from the hotel at Dykhead.  The route takes you through leafy dells with specimen trees as well as down to the River Esk.  There is a bridge to take you onto a "Swallows and Amazons" island in the river if you feel like using your imagination.  This section of the river is a habitat for dippers and grey wagtails and you may even be lucky enough to see an otter.
