Angus Council's Economic Development Unit is part of Angus Council's Infrastructure Services and lies at the heart of the Council's strategic and corporate activities. Its remit is to stimulate, encourage and support business activity in Angus by helping existing Angus businesses, encouraging inward investment and creating an appropriate environment for business growth.

Property & Land Services
The Council has serviced industrial land available for development in a number of locations and is involved in a rolling programme of acquisition to establish new sites throughout Angus.
The Council alsoprovides manufacturing, storage and office accommodation throughout the area. Properties range from small starter units to large premises for manufacturing and warehousing.

Maintained by the Economic Development Unit in conjunction with the Scottish Property Network, the website also offers direct and convenient access to the current Industrial and Commercial Property Register, and a searchable online database of all available properties in Angus.
Advisory Company Development Services
The Economic Development Unit can offer advice on training, marketing, exporting and grants and loans. The Unit can provide useful contacts and help liaise with other organisations.
We can assist businesses taking their first steps into new markets through the Market Development Grant and as an active member of the Business Gateway can provide access to exporting assistance through government schemes, trade missions and exhibitions.
External Funding
Angus Council's External Funding Team offers advice on how to apply for European, Lottery and other source of funding. The team also produce a funding newsletter - Angus Council Funding News. Information for funding for community groups can be obtained at the Angus 4 Community website.

Promotional Services
A programme of promotional services maintains a high profile for Angus and its businesses. These activities include advertising, attendance at exhibitions, publications and press liaison. Individual businesses can be helped and advised on promotional activity, highlighting their developments and achievements.
The Economic Development Unit also manage the Angus Ahead area marketing campaign which undertakes a wide range of activity to promote Angus locally, nationally and internationally.
Angus Branding Guidelines
Branding guidelines have been developed to ensure the consistent use of the Angus brand mark and the 'triquetra' across all marketing materials. Sectoral Initiatives
Angus Council, through its Economic Development Unit, is engaged in promotional and development initiatives in a number of sectors. It organises local representation at international exhibitions, contributes to Angus Engineering Forum, participates in Enterprise Angus Strategic Partnership to develop links between these sectors.
The Angus Contact Centre Initiative aims to improve the county's share of this growing service industry while the importance of the Crafts sector is also recognised through support for the formation of the Angus Craft Association. Meanwhile, Angus' premier position in Golf is supported through the Carnoustie Country campaign.

Business Gateway Angus (BGA) is part-funded by the Economic Development Unit. BGA offers advice and support to those wishing to start up in business as well as to established companies. It also offers an information service to Angus companies with access to databases on market information, financial assistance and European projects and regulations. It is the first point of contact for clients wishing to access the wider enterprise network.
A further e-business service is offered, specialising in training and advice on information technology and the internet. A number of courses are offered under the e-business service including how to design your own website, to trading electronically.
Business Gateway Angus also handles applications for the Angus Loan Fund, Angus Grant Scheme and the Young Persons Award. Other discretionary funds are available such as the Farm Business Diversification Scheme. The Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust is also housed within BGA, helping business start-ups up to 26 years of age.
Scottish Enterprise administers around fifty programmes to assist businesses. These include initiatives in training, business skills, European information, financial management, marketing, environmental improvements, research, innovation, exporting and the food industry.
