Skills is cited as the number one priority for all business in Scotland. Skills are also at the heart of the Scottish Curriculum.
Young people in education today are the employees, employers and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
Our education system is currently preparing these young people for a future world of work where the pace of change and innovation is exponential; a future in which today's learners may have ten or more jobs before the age of 40. Even now, one person in four works for a company for less than a year and one in two is employed by a company for less than five years. In such an environment, knowledge quickly becomes dated; rather it is the essential underlying skills for learning, life and work that retain their currency. Equipping them with these skills will allow us to prepare young people for jobs that don't yet exist…using technologies that have not yet been invented…in order to solve problems that we can't foresee…and succeed in a future we don't yet know!
In this world of uncertainty schools and employers are increasingly recognising the value of working in partnership towards the shared ambition of developing our young people's skills, attitudes knowledge, and values to equip them for success in the modern business world and create a more enterprising environment in the county of Angus.
"To succeed in life and in work it helps when somebody shows an interest, motivates, enthuses and guides you on your journey."
