Financial assistance in the form of loans or grants is available from several sources in Angus. The Council administers some schemes directly and there are other schemes which may be offered or identified through the Council's Business Gateway service. The Council can also provide general advice on external funding sources.
What loans or grants are available?
The European Fisheries Fund supports projects which encourage the sustainable development of fishing areas in Angus.
The Fund offers finance for projects which are innovative, offer area wide benefit, and long term sustainability.
This could include projects that will attract investment and new business into the area; create new jobs outside the fisheries sector; train people for new trades; promote eco-tourism; promote products with low environmental impact; offer workshops or exhibitions on using local sea produce; or introduce young people to the fishing industry.
The eligible area in Angus runs from north of Montrose to Monifieth.

Angus Loan Fund - provides loans of up to £15,000 to companies, subject to eligibility. The business must be based in Angus, employ less than 25 staff and have the majority of their customers outside of Angus. Loans are available for any legitimate business purpose which will lead to business growth and job creation, including capital investment and working capital.
Angus Loan Fund is a lender of last resort, any new funding from the Loan Fund is intended to form part of a larger financial package which should include other funding.
Security will be taken where available. As a minimum, a personal guarantee will be sought. For loans of more that £10,000 additional security will normally be required

Market Development Grant - provides financial assistance to encourage small and medium sized businesses to access new overseas markets via exhibiting at major trade shows in UK and overseas; participating in overseas trade missions; and developing potential new business.
Financial assistance of 50% is available on net travel and accommodation costs up to a maximum of £1,000.
The scheme is targeted at indigenous companies employing less than 250 who are engaged either in manufacturing, the provision of business-to-business services or tourism related projects.
