The Angus Employer Pack


The Angus Employer Pack (PDF, 195 KB) acts as a one-stop shop approach for employers looking to recruit or develop staff. The pack will connect you with various public sector agencies in Angus who are working with local individuals to assist them into employment, and those who can offer assistance to develop those in employment. Advice can be given on support available.

  Working Health Services

Working Health Services is for either employees of a small to medium sized business (less than 250 employees) or individuals who are self employed. The service offers direct access to a range of health professionals including:

  • Physiotherapist
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Occupational Health Nurse
  • Occupational Health Doctor
  • Counselling and Psychological Therapies

  Flexible Training Opportunities

EEpicFlexible Training Opportunities gives businesses with under 75 employees the opportunity to apply for up to £5,000 towards employee training costs. Launched by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and supported by the European Social Fund, it aims to help small businesses become more resilient and to boost productivity and success.

Funding is available for up to 10 employees per business and the money is not a loan so there's no need to pay it back. SDS will refund up to 50% of each episode of employee training up to a maximum of £500 per employee. It effectively means you can double your training investment. Or it might help you introduce some training when you thought it wouldn’t be possible.

The application process is simple and the rewards can really make a difference. Many businesses have already taken advantage of the offer. For advice on how to apply contact:

Adopt an Apprentice

Adopt an Apprentice and not only will your business benefit from a skilled trainee, but you will also receive a £2000 incentive. The financial incentive will help cover wage and recruitment costs of taking on a Modern Apprentice who has been made redundant from another employer.

Safeguard an Apprentice

If you need support for apprentices due to the current economic climate then you could be eligable for a wage subsidy of £75 per week (Available to employers in construction, manufacturing and engineering sectors at risk of making apprentices redundant).

Recruitment Incentive for Employers

Skills Development Scotland have support for employers to recruit a young person from Get Ready for Work to a Modern Apprenticeship or to recruit specific groups of young people to a Modern Apprenticeship e.g. Care Leaver. Up to £1,000 is available.

Low Carbon Skills Fund

Skills Development Scotland have support to help Scottish Business capitalise on developments in renewables and low carbon sectors by up skilling and re skilling their employers via short, bite sized, flexible learning. For businesses with an employee headcount for less than 250.

  Social Enterprise

Social enterprises are businesses trading for social and environmental purposes for example the Big Issue which delivers social benefit to the homeless through selling a magazine. It is estimated that there around 30,000 social enterprises in Scotland, contributing £1.25bn to the Economy.

ee1picThere is support and funding available Nationally through FirstPort. Firstport provides business support and advice and start-up awards to new and emerging social entrepreneurs across Scotland.
