National Youth Training Programmes

photo of young girl mechanicThe following agencies can offer assistance to help you find a job, or inform you as to the training options that are available locally.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is a free, all-ages career and guidance service available across Scotland. 

Staff can:

  • Help you plan your career
  • Help you apply for jobs, improve your CV, fill in application forms and practise for interviews.
  • Let you use the internet for free, so you can look for jobs (they will tell you about useful websites).
  • Help you apply to college or university and help you get any funding you need  to support your studies (including Individual Learning Accounts).
  • Advise about local employability programmes that will help you find a job: e.g. get ready for workmodern apprenticeships, and training for work.

New Youth Health Website - The Lowdown

This website is for young people looking for confidential advice and information about health related issues and the challenges they might encounter during their teenage years.

The Lowdown provides access to the Young Scot Infoline, a free telephone line which is available during the week from 10am-6pm manned by trained information advisers with expertise in communicating with young people and capable of sign-posting callers on to existing sources of advice.
