Loss of a Loved One

We all have to face a loss in the family at some time, and sadly the loss of friends. In Angus we understand the needs of those left behind, and we provide support for members of our community facing these difficult times.

Support is offered in the community for those coping with bereavement. Counselling services are available through community and private organisations such as the Angus Mental Health Association.

Angus Counselling Service is a voluntary group of qualified counsellors, who use a range of counselling approaches - Telephone: 01241 830238 (24 hours).

Angus provides support services in the community. The Community Mental Health Team provides support locally:

Registering a Death

A death can be registered by:

  • Any relative of the deceased
  • Any person present when the person died
  • The deceased's executor or other legal representative
  • The occupier of the property where the person died

If there is no such person matching the above, anyone else who knows the information to be registered.

A death occurring in Scotland can be registers at a Registrar's Office in the registration district in which the death occurred. Alternatively, if the deceased's usual place of residence was in Scotland, then you can register it in the district where the deceased lived.
