Community care services are aimed at supporting care for adults with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and mental health problems. Community services are available for care for older people, drug and alcohol care and treatment services. These services crucially also offer support for carers.
Angus community care has seen a shift in the balance of care from institutional settings to supporting people and their carers within their homes. It has developed new and better ways of working with people in need of community care services and is implementing fairer access to health, social care and housing services.
Schemes such as the Angus Homecare Service and the Community Occupational Therapy Service support and provide services for carers.
Free personal care is available to people aged 65 and over. Nursing care in a care home is also free from 1 July 2005.
