Angus Council recognises the right of the community to live peacefully with security in the home. While Angus enjoys relatively low crime figures compared to some of the larger population centres, we are not complacent about home security, policing and fire prevention.
Tayside Police are responsible for maintaining and protecting law and order in Angus. In conjunction with Tayside Fire Brigade, they are proactive campaigners for community safety, touring schools and community centres to increase awareness about home security and personal safety.
Both Tayside Police and Tayside Fire Brigade talk to children about the dangers anti-social behaviour, such as starting fires, and the consequences of being caught. They also aim to advise and educate householders of careful disposal of household waste and refuse, home security systems and fire prevention. Neighbourhood watch schemes are actively encouraged.
Local security firms also advertise regularly in the local media.
