Angus, ScoltandAngus Housing Locations

Angus covers an area of some 2,000 sq km with a population of 108,400, counting for 2.1% of the population of Scotland.

Angus is made up of nine principle inter-related communities, including seven Burgh Towns – Arbroath, Brechin, Montrose, Carnoustie, Monifieth, Forfar and Kirriemuir – and a number of villages and smaller settlements set in a varied countryside of lowland, coastal landscape, hills, valleys and glens. Angus’ main rural settlements are in Newtyle and Sidlaw and the Angus Glens.

There is a strong interdependence among the towns, villages and countryside which together give Angus its special character. Historically, Angus settlements centre on sites of cultural and religious importance and in recent times, people have migrated to Angus for its flourishing industries: tourism, textiles, oil and gas, farming and food processing, service and manufacturing. Angus’ busy ports and fertile environment make for a diverse economy and dynamic population.

The towns and villages of Angus are within easy commute of Dundee, Scotland’s fourth largest city, with its thriving digital media, life sciences and contact centre sectors, and within easy reach of Aberdeen, Scotland’s “Granite City”, where much of the North Sea oil and gas industry is based.

All housing locations are well served with good roads, schools, healthcare and community services
