Pre-School Provision in Angus

Angus Council  recognises that good quality childcare and pre-school education are central to the plans for tackling social exclusion in Scotland. They contribute in a number of ways by assisting a child's social and educational development with particular benefit to those children and families in need.

In Angus, no less than 52 nursery classes offer pre-school provision for children aged 3-4 years. Children can access a funded pre-school place in the term after their third birthday. Private and voluntary providers work in partnership with the council to provide all pre-school children with the care they need.

Nursery classes and pre-school education can be found at the Angus Council website.

Sure Start Scotland has been successful in developing pre-school services for vulnerable families across Scotland. For children and families unable to use mainstream facilities, the Family Centre in Arbroath is a good example of special pre-school services available in Angus.

These services include pre-school and ante-pre-school education as well as parent and baby groups, parent and toddler groups, "brunch clubs", outreach and individual work, creches, day-care and respite facilities. There are similar centres in Montrose, Brechin, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Monifieth and Carnoustie areas.
