Secondary Education in Angus

Angus has an outstanding record in terms of achievement in its Secondary Schools. Children commence Secondary School on completion of their Primary Education and receive four to six years of secondary education depending on course and life choices.

All secondary schools cover stages S1 to S6 and all schools in the Angus area are co-educational. The normal maximum class size for timetabled classes is 33 for S1-S2 and 30 for S3-S6. School hours are between 8.45am and 3.45pm with minor variations according to the length of break times.

Secondary Schools provide a range of subject options leading to award bearing courses including Standard Grade, Higher and Advanced Higher levels and National Qualifications. In Angus, pupils consistently achieve Higher and Standard Grade results above the Scottish average, accompanied by an increasing range of vocational modules and short courses.
