Arbroath HarbourWith a population of 22,785 (Census 2001), Arbroath is the largest town in Angus. Home of the famous Abbey, which was founded in 1178, Arbroath has auspicious beginnings. It was at Arbroath Abbey that the Declaration on Arbroath was signed on 6 April 1320, outlining the desire of the Scottish people for self-determination. Today, this famous declaration is celebrated annually in Angus, and notably by Scots throughout Scotland, North America and beyond.

Industry drives Arbroath's economy, ranging from fishing and food processing to engineering and packaging.
