Monifieth ParkLiving In and Around Monifieth

Monifieth has grown around an ancient settlement, dating back to the 9th Century. Until the 19th Century Monifieth was a sleepy little village, but the rise of the local jute industry and the revival of the foundry saw workers pouring into the town and the population soared.

Today, Monifieth has a population of 7,900 and is a well known golfing centre, having hosted the Scottish Amateur Golf Championship and the qualifying rounds for the Open Championship.

Monifieth spent twenty-one years as part of Dundee District, but was warmly welcomed back into Angus in 1996 after a local government re-organisation. Monifieth has good links with other coastal towns in Angus by road and by train and is a popular place to live with those commuting to work in Dundee. Monifieth has excellent local schools and community health services.
