Community Planning

 OUR VISION FOR ANGUS

Angus Community

"Angus will be a place where a first-class quality of life for all can be enjoyed in vibrant towns and pleasant villages set in attractive and productive countryside. The area will be dynamic and outward looking, contributing to the culture, environment and economy of Scotland"

Working in Partnership

The Angus Community Planning Partnership (ACPP) directs community planning in Angus with the aim of improving the quality of life of the Angus resident. The ACPP (supported by the Community Planning Team) is a partnership made up of members of the following key public service delivery agencies: Angus Council, Angus Association of Voluntary Organisations, Angus College, Angus Rural Partnership, Communities Scotland, NHS Tayside, Scottish Enterprise Tayside, Tayside Fire and Rescue. The ACPP exists to bring together public and voluntary sector agencies to strategically plan for Angus. The Partnership meets every six weeks to progress community planning activities and to highlight priorities for each local area.

The ACPP has set up a number of groups to work in partnership to improve the quality of life of the Angus resident. These groups operate at an Angus wide level working towards improving the areas economy, improving community learning, making Angus a healthier and safer community in which to live, and protecting and enhancing the quality of the Angus environmentKerbside Recycling.

The Angus Community Planning Partnership is working to plan and deliver better public services in the region. By working together and planning together, we can co-ordinate our activities, making them more effective and more efficient at local and area level.

The community planning partners have agreed a five year (2007-2012) plan with the aim of tackling six specific identified challenges through a coordinated approach with joint actions needed to address them:

  • changing population
  • the sustainability of the environment, the economy and communities
  • new business growth
  • engaging with communities
  • the county’s young people
  • the impact alcohol has on our lives, businesses and communities.

Joint economic development, transport, learning, children’s services, waste management, health improvement and community safety plans and strategies are driving our public service delivery. The 2007-2012 community plan takes us a step further. Partners intend to work towards more joined-up service planning and sharing of individual resources to collectively achieve the best value possible for the people of Angus. You have a part to play in the decisions that are made about these services. Tell us what you think of this Vision for Angus by emailing access@angus.gov.uk.
