Projects in Angus - Cultural and Environmental

There are a number of cultural and environmental projects taking place in Angus at the moment.

In the cultural sector, the Kirriemuir Heritage Trust (KHT) is organising an exciting series of events in 2010 to commemorate the 150th birthday of JM Barrie - the author of the classic children's novel, 'Peter Pan'. To view a list of the many events that are taking place in 2010 - including the 'Big Birthday Bash!' - then read the organisation profile of the Kirriemuir Heritage Trust.

In the environmental sector, there are currently three main projects aimed at making the most of the natural beauty that exists in Angus.

  • River South Esk Catchment Partnership
Set up in 2008, the River South Esk Project is based on a Catchment Management Plan that aims to guide the future management of activities within the river's catchment area in a sustainable manner.

  • Make Angus Beautiful (MAB)
A partnership project between the Volunteer Centre Angus (VCA) and the Dobromysl Foundation (DF), this volunteer-led campaign aims to encourage people to respect the natural beauty of Angus, as well as raising awareness of major environmental and recycling issues.
  • Rural Development Initiatives - Woodland and Forestry Framework
A partnership project between Rural Development Initiatives Ltd and Angus Council, this campaign will identify forestry-related projects which could deliver community and sustainable economic development, biodiversity and climate change objectives in the Angus region.

We plan to add further interesting and innovative projects that are taking place in Angus to this page in the near future, so please keep checking back for updates.
