Welcome to our English language class run by the Angus Council Community Learning and Development Service.

Our classes are provided for free to help you improve your English. They will help you access services and enjoy life in our community.

Your tutor is an experienced ESOL tutor. ESOL is a methodology for teaching English which involves the students in improving reading, writing, speaking and listening to English through a variety of techniques. Most of our students enjoy the classes very much.

We do provide SQA qualifications in some classes. Your tutor will speak to you about this.

You are required to fill in a form of personal details to allow us to monitor how many students are coming to our classes and to allow us to get help in an emergency.

Children under 18 who are still attending school are not normally allowed to accompany their parents. Unfortunately we cannot provide childcare.

Your classes will normally run once a week and follow the local school terms – ie: we take breaks for Easter, Summer, October and Christmas/New Year. Our school holidays can be viewed at:

Sometimes classes have to be cancelled due to staff illness or weather conditions. If classes are cancelled we will put a notice on this website.

We understand that sometimes your work or personal circumstances will prevent you from attending classes. It is helpful, however, if we can get to know the reasons for missing a class. If you can tell us that a night shift at a local farm or factory has changed, for example, we can try to make changes.

The course leader is Neil Paterson, who will try to help you with any queries.

We hope you enjoy the classes and will work with us to improve your English.
