What help can the Towards Employment Team (TET) provide?

The Towards Employment team in Angus provide help for individuals and families on a low income by removing the barriers they face when trying to move into employment, education, training or volunteering.

It is a free and confidential service offered across Angus.

Dedicated Key Workers across the area can help you with:

  • Employment and training advice
  • Signposting to opportunities in training and education,
  • Completing application forms
  • Accessing the best childcare option to meet your personal circumstances
  • Short term financial support for the extra costs that may be stopping you achieving your work/life ambitions
  • Support in finding employment 

What kind of things might you receive assistance with?

Assistance is dependant on your personal circumstances however examples of support may include additional support with:

  • A short-term contribution with childcare costs to help you with the additional costs that you may have to budget for.
  • Angus Employability Grants may be available to those seeking to retrain or gain certification in a particular employment field. 
  • Financial advice with in work calculations to ensure that the option you wish to explore won't make you financially worse off.

Who is eligible?

  • Families or individuals living in Angus who are on a low income. This can include those already in employment, for more information contact the Towards Employment Team

Volunteering

Q.

I am interested in volunteer work but don't know if I have the necessary skills, will I receive any support?

A.

Towards Employment Team work closely with Volunteer Centre Angus. Your TET Key Worker and the staff at VCA will ensure you are provided with all the necessary advice, support and training at a pace that is right for you.

Angus Employability Grants

Q.

I was made redundant from my last post and think it may be necessary to retrain in another area. Can TET help to fund this?

A.

You may qualify for assistance from an Angus Employability Grant. These can offer financial support up to a maximum of £1500 to pursue training where no other funding sources are available. For more details on eligibility, contact the Towards Employment Team.

Childcare

Q.

I have been offered a job, but don't think I can afford to pay the deposit and childcare costs needed by the nursery. Can TET help with this?

A.

We can offer short term childcare costs funding. Your TET Key Worker can help you through this process and ensure that this does not prevent you from taking up employment.
