It's easy to get around the countryside, and you'll find plenty of good reasons to explore further. Angus' towns and villages are linked to each other by pleasant quiet roads, and to the rest of Scotland by an efficient network of strategically planned trunk roads, with rail, sea and air connections.
The main arterial roads through Angus are the A90, which gives reduced travel times to reach the heart of Angus, and the A92. The A90 makes the drive into Angus from either Dundee or Aberdeen easy and pleasant, and makes accessing many interesting sites and places very stratightforward, including reaching the foothills of the Glens.
But for those who want a scenic coastal tour, through friendly seaside towns, alongside sandy beaches and near to interesting headland walks, the A92 is an absolute must.
Forfar is at the geographic heart of the county, with pleasant B roads running out like a spider's legs to the towns and burghs inland and on the coast. Close by the A90, not far from the magnificent Castle at Glamis, its an ideal spot from which to plan a tour.
Car hire is available in the area and if you would rather not drive there are many local taxi firms which can provide a door to door service.
Angus enjoys good public transport and is well served by bus. Why not take the hassle out of planning your journey and use Angus Council's on-line journey planner, available on www.angus.gov.uk/transport .
The on-line facility allows users to plan journeys from individual bus stops for all journeys within Angus, including popular destinations throughout the area.
Bus journeys are a relaxed mode of travel - not the fastest, but certainly the friendliest way to get around.
Angus is on the East Coast Scottish main line, with direct connections straight through from London and the South West, or from Aberdeen in the North. The train calls at the coastal towns -Carnoustie, Arbroath and Montrose. Onward exploration by bus, car, and bicycles can open up the area to you.
