From Carnoustie to the cathedral city of Brechin, from the Meffan Museum & Art Gallery in Forfar to the Arbroath Art Gallery or the William Lamb Studio in Montrose, Angus is a friend to art. Many collections can be viewed in the various museums throughout the area, and many visiting exhibitions grace their exhibition halls. The fascinating Angus Fine Art Collection belonging to Angus Council is based at the Meffan and at Arbroath.
The county also has its fair share of lavishly adorned country houses, including the House of Dun and Glamis Castle with their breath-taking collections.William Lamb is one of Angus' most famous sons. His life and work is celebrated at the William Lamb Sculpture Studio in Montrose. Although Lamb was famous for his high profile Royal commissions, much of his best work treated local subjects and people. Many of his sculptures can be seen in the streets of the town.
