With the Highlands to the north and the 'Silvery Tay' to the south, this beautiful rural area of Angus offers an ideal retreat to relax and take in the breathtaking views.
Overseen by the Sidlaw Hills, its unspoiled countryside has something for everyone: with fascinating historical visitor attractions, plenty of cycling and walking routes and, of course, is an ideal spot for outdoor sports.
Newtyle & Sidlaw is surrounded by interesting places, such as Glamis to the north-east. Glamis is the home of Glamis Castle, where Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother spent most of her childhood, and is also where William Shakespeare received inspiration for his play, Macbeth.
Also to the north-east you will find Meigle. Meigle is the oldest town in Scotland and is the home of Meigle Museum, which contains the finest collection of Pictish stones in Europe. Meigle also boasts Belmont Park, where a burial mound and a standing stone shows evidence of the iron age people that lived there.
The area is also an ideal location for fishing, walking, riding and golfing. The Kinpurnie Estate at Newtyle, offers country and game sports as well as some of the finest trout fishing, shooting, riding and walking in Scotland.
Set in an attractive landscape with loch fishing and golf courses, the community is also well served by the Piperdam Golf & Leisure Resort, which offers access to a leisure spa and many outdoor sporting activities.
Not only that, but if you would like a day of shopping and eating, the market town of Forfar is not far away, and offers a wide variety of interesting, specialist shops and places to eat to suit all tastes.
