Some of Arbroath's very best singers, dancers and musicians will be performing in a spectacular show in the Webster Memorial Theatre on Friday, September 16 and Saturday 17 September, 2011.

Over 60 paintings celebrating the spectacular coastline of north east Scotland went on show at Arbroath Art Gallery in Arbroath Library, on Saturday, July 16, when the Year of the Light Exhibition opened to the public.

CANCELLATION of Reaper's Bell Rock Bicentenary Sailings - July 28 to 30, 2011
To celebrate and support the bicentenary of the building and light up of the Bell Rock Lighthouse, it had been intended that the Boats Club of the Scottish Fisheries Museum would organise three sailings on the 109 year old herring drifter Reaper from Arbroath out to the Bell Rock over the 28-30th July for guests in return for a donation towards the cost of maintaining the boat.

Six months after Arbroath's Year of the Light flared into life with a spectacular fireworks display, the organisers are delighted by the response the celebrations marking the bicentenary of the Bell Rock Lighthouse have received so far.

The Year of the Light Sailing Regatta - Saturday 18 June
In honour of the 200th anniversary of the Bell Rock Lighthouse, at 8.30am on Saturday, June 18, at least 15 yachts will race from Arbroath Harbour to the Bell Rock Lighthouse and back again, as part of Arbroath Sailing and Boating Club's Year of the Light Regatta.

Bell Rock Lighthouse To Be Celebrated at the Light of the World Service on Sunday 12 June 
At 4pm on the afternoon of Sunday, June 12, in the courtyard of the Signal Tower Museum, the congregations of all the Arbroath churches will join together to mark the 200th anniversary of the Bell Rock Lighthouse at The Light of the World Service.

Work to complete the major refurbishment of the Signal Tower Museum in Arbroath is progressing well, and the building will re-open to the public at the end of next month.

As part of Arbroath’s Year of the Light celebrations marking the bicentenary of the Bell Rock Lighthouse, on Saturday, June 18, 2011, a flotilla of sailing craft will make the voyage from Arbroath Harbour to the Bell Rock Lighthouse.

Blaze of Colour Sparks Off the 'Year of the Light'
On 1 February 2011, exactly two hundred years after Arbroath's horizon was lit up by the first beam of light from the Bell Rock Lighthouse, the town reciprocated by lighting up the sky with a spectacular fireworks display.

The Lighthouse Stevensons - TV Programme Featuring the Bell Rock Lighthouse Is Now Available on the BBC iPlayer
A TV documentary telling the story of the Scottish lighthouses built by the Stevenson family was shown on on BBC2 last night (Tuesday 1 February). The programme is available for viewing on the BBC iPlayer until 10pm on Tuesday 8 February.

£425,000 Signal Tower Museum Building Work Completed for Year of the Light
Major refurbishment works at the Signal Tower Museum in Arbroath are now complete. The council will now begin the process of fitting out the museum with exhibits, both new and old, and it is anticipated that the museum will be re-opened to the public by early summer.
