Angus lies at the very heartland of Scotland and Angus folk are proud to celebrate their rich heritage. There is a wide range of Highland Games and Country Shows for the visitor to enjoy, showcasing the rich Scottish culture in the area.

Strathmore Highland Games is a traditional Highland Games held in the grounds of Glamis Castle. There's a full line-up of events including Heavies tossing the Caber, track events, Tug-of War and solo piping. The McKenzie Caledonian Pipe Band are regular performers and various trade stalls and catering facilities are available.
A long time favourite, Cortachy Highland Games is held in the grounds of Cortachy Castle, by Kirriemuir. Activities include horticultural and industrial competitions, photographic competitions, piping and dancing events, dog shows, and a duck race.
Held in August in Glenisla Haugh Field, the Glenisla Highland Games are traditional Highland games, with dancing, piping, hill racing, heavy events, and children's races.
The Montrose Highland Games offers lots of different activities including solo piping competitions, Highland dancing competitions, children's races, a dog show, cycling competitions, and a Clydesdale horse show. Enjoy the sideshows and craft tent. Last year the show featured the International Graham Clan Gathering.

Scotland's Countryside Festival is held during the first weekend in September in the grounds of Glamis Castle. The event includes falconry displays, fly-fishing demonstrations, and terrier shows and racing plus hundred of trade stands offering the very best in Scottish produce, from clothing to crafts, food to festivities with many of the products available exclusively to this premier event.
The Angus Show is a fun-packed two-day event held in June in Brechin Castle Centre, the event offers something for all the family. Previous highlights have included the Scottish Equestrian Vaulting team, who have competed all around Europe. There's plenty to see and do: the ever-popular stock judging, vintage vehicles, highland dancing, tug-of-war, grand parade of animals, pipe bands, beauty & massage demonstrations, line dancing, a funfair, trade stands, craft tent, and even a car boot sale. Full catering and bar facilities are also available.
Held in July and run by Kirriemuir & District Agricultural association, the Kirriemuir Show is a traditional agricultural show offering fun for the whole family. Attractions include: animals, spectacular main ring events, a pipe band, vintage tractor parade, highland dancing, dog show, craft fair, trade stands, a 'sheep/wool trail' with quiz offering prizes for younger family members and full bar & catering facilities. A great day out for all the family.
