The Saturday night Ceilidh has become one of the highlights of the Angus Glens Walking Festival! This year, walkers will be treated to an evening of Scottish music and dancing, as well as a filling BBQ supper, at Memus Village Hall.  Music will once again be provided by the popular "Rosely Ceilidh Band".

About the Rosely Ceilidh Band

The Rosely Ceilidh band are a trio of young musicians who all hail from the County of Angus, Scotland. The trio consists of:

Allan Smeaton (19) – Accordion & Midi, Allan also undertakes the role of walking people through the dances and naming any tunes that we play.

Allan lives in the town of Arbroath and is the only male member of the band, so he has the hard job of trying to keep the ladies under control! He has been taking accordion lessons since the age of eight and has now been learning with Steven Carcary for over eight years. He is a keen accordionist and also has other hobbies such as quad-biking, mountain biking, and various other outdoor activities.Rosely Ceilidh Band

Lisa Laird (22) – Accordion & Midi.

Lisa hails from the town of Forfar and is the eldest member of the band. She has also been learning the accordion since she was eight years old, and she has been under Steven Carcary's tuition for the last twelve years. She loves going to Ceilidhs, Concerts and Music Festivals and hopes to become a full-times musician. She is hoping to take piano lessons in the future and maybe try her hand at a few other instruments as well so she can be as successful as her teacher one day.

Alisha Smeaton (20) – Drums and Percussion.

Alisha is Allan's big sister and therefore also comes from Arbroath. She is the drummer of the band and the one that keeps them all in time. She started of learning when she was about ten years old with Andy James as her drum teacher. When she then became part of Steven Carcary's Young Accordionists in 2003, Steven started to teach her the drums instead. Alisha can also play a few tunes of the accordion, but has decided to stick to her drumming in the mean-time.

Although, quite a young ceilidh band Rosely Ceilidh Band offer some great talent and already have over four years experience within the music industry. Their music consists of mainly Scottish but they do throw in the odd continental piece from time to time.  Listen to the Rosely Ceilidh Band
