Walk 22: Capel Mounth to Spittal of Loch Muick

Length: 23km/14 miles circular.             Ascent: 949m

 

Date: Sunday 3 June 2012

 

Start: Glen Doll car park, 08.45 (bus from Kirriemuir at 08.00).      Grid Ref: 283 761

 

Finish: Glen Doll car park, 16.30. Refreshments will be available at the Glen Clova Hotel. (Return bus to Kirriemuir leaves at 17.30).

 

Registration: ALL Walkers must register with the Event Centre at Kirriemuir Town Hall at least 15 minutes prior to bus departure. If you are planning to meet the bus en route or are travelling to the walk's starting point by your own transport, then you can register by phone on 07825 387330. If you do not register, you will not be permitted to join the walk.

 

About the walk: This is a long walk and a high level of fitness is required. The Route takes the old land rover track to Bachnagairn then climbs steeply on a good path across moorland to Alan's Hut. The route then drops down to Loch Muick revealing dramatic views of the glen. The return route to Glen Doll follows the Capel Mounth Right of Way.

 

Full hillwalking gear required. Please bring a packed lunch.
