About the walk: From the ranger base the walk heads through Glen Doll Forest along Jock's Road, the oldest right of way in Scotland. Once out of the forest, the glacier carved valley bounded by rocky cliffs of around 310 metres gives the walk a true mountain experience. The route climbs steadily until it leaves the right of way and heads towards Loch Esk. Once the Loch is reached all the climbing has been completed and the walk continues on a poorly defined track with a steady but sometimes boggy descent. However, the splendid view to Bachnagairn and the valley floor compensates for the under foot conditions.

Full hillwalking gear required. Please bring a packed lunch.
